Boyd was the faith healer patient in the episode "House vs. God".

Medical History

Boyd took aspirin for headaches. He also drank a lot of water to stay hydrated.

Case History

Boyd was giving a sermon when his abdomen tensed and he told his father that he needed a doctor.

The abdominal series showed no evidence of obstruction. He'd had a chicken sandwich to eat. Boyd told Cameron that "God" told him he would meet a women healer bearing vengeful thoughts about a man she worked with (this happened the same time as Cameron found out that Foreman had written an article about the same patient as her). His urine was dilute, Cameron told Boyd that they would run the blood work.

Chase didn't think it was psychosis. The only medical issue that showed up on the blood work was low sodium. House thought it might be Addison's Disease but Chase informed him that there was no pigmentation and the potassium levels were normal. House told them to monitor his saline intake. He told them to check the medical history for evidence of other delusions. House went to talk to Boyd. He confronted him about talking to "God". Boyd realized that House didn't trust anyone. House noted that Boyd seemed lucid which meant no delusions. Boyd revealed taking some aspirin. The father came in with a bottle of water. It was revealed that Boyd drank a bottle of water a few times an hour which would cause the low sodium which would cause the cramping.

Boyd woke up hallucinating. He came up to a fountain and looked up at the sky. Chase found him, he saw one of Wilson's terminal cancer Grace Palmieri, he tod her that God didn't want her to be afraid. Wilson entered and seemed upset Chase explained that he had just had a complex partial seizure. Cameron thought it might be Wilson's or maybe a glycogen storage disease. Foreman thought it was a brain tumor. House told them to MRI his brain. During the MRI, Boyd asked Chase why he always did thing he didn't want to.

House entered his office and found that someone had written a scoreboard that said "House vs. God" on it. House had 1 and God had 2. Boyd entered, he thought House got a point for figuring out why the low sodium, House told him that he had points for the remark about Foreman and Cameron and for Grace, the terminal cancer patient. Boyd claimed hat God told him that House looked for excuses to be alone. He also told him that God wanted him to invite Wilson to his poker game.

The MRI showed an abnormal area which chould indicate Tuberous sclerosis. However that would mean that once they treated him, he couldn't talk to "God" anymore. Foreman informed Boyd about it, they told him that he needed brain surgery. Boyd refused to have the surgery. House got Wilson to talk to him. Boyd claimed that God put the tumors there for a reason, because if he went around making miracles all the time no one would need faith. Wilson claimed that saints have humility, and someone with that much humility would accept that they just have an illness.

Wilson took some images of Graces liver cancer. Her tumors shrank, House told him not to tell Boyd.

Boyd withdrew consent for the surgery when Grace told him that her tumors shrank. House figured out that Wilson had been sleeping with Grace and he told her about the poker game and she told Boyd, and that is how he knew about it.

Boyd was going to check out without his fathers consent because "God" told him to. Boyd's father asked Cameron to talk to him. Suddenly, Boyd spiked a fever.

House still thought it was a mild case of Tuberous sclerosis. A non-terminal case and he had and infection. House wanted a lumbar puncture. But Boyd claimed "God" didn't want him to take any more of man's medicine. The father did not consent either. Wilson thought that the fever was a bug that he got at the hospital. House realized that he was right and his virus went into Grace, made her tumors shrink because the virus went after them first. House thought it was herpes encephalitis.

House came into Boyd's room as he was leaving and old him about it. The father realized that Herpes was something you get from sex. Boyd had had sex. He didn't have sores when he came in. Boyd denied ever having sex and refused to let House examine him. Boyd's father told him to let House examine him. Boyd showed them the Herpes sores, House told him that it was treatable.

Boyd came to Houses office to apologize. Boyd still thought he heard god. He claimed that House went through life knowing that what he did was right, he knew how that felt. Boyd wished him good luck. House realized Chase was keeping score.
