GAD-ab autoimmunity is an autoimmune condition where antibodies develop that target glutamic acid decarbonase, a vital enzyme necessary for the functioning of the pancreas. The condition occurs in about 70% of people with Type I diabetes and help distinguish it from Type II.

If the condition exists in a diabetic patient, the patient must be given supplements of the enzyme.
