Kurtwood Larson Smith is an American actor who is widely known for several important supporting roles in movies and television, often playing a police officer. On House, he played Dr. Obyedkov, the father of Patrick Obyedkov, in the episode Half-Wit.
After a long string of minor roles, Smith made an impact as the gang leader Clarence J. Boddicker in Robocop. Two years later, Smith played the father of Robert Sean Leonard's character in Dead Poet's Society. However, he made his big breakthrough as the character Red Forman in That 70's Show.
Smith also has a deep connection to the Star Trek franchise, appearing in Star Trek VI, Voyager and Deep Space Nine.
