Mary Jo Deschanel (née Mary Josephine Weir) is an American actress, best known for her role as Eileen Hayward on Twin Peaks. On House, M.D., she portrayed Julia Kutner, the adopted mother of Lawrence Kutner in the Season 5 episode Simple Explanation. She is the mother of actresses Zooey Deschanel (The New Girl) and Emily Deschanel (Bones).
Deschanel has had featured roles in The Right Stuff, The Patriot and Winter Passing.
