nystagmus is any noticeable movement of the eyeball that results in a problem with vision. It can be congenital or the result of another illness, including disorders of the central nervous system, toxins, pharmaceuticals or alcohol.
A vestibular caloric test is usually performed to confirm nystagmus, but it can also be confirmed through opthamological examination.
Congenital nystagmus has only recently been treatable with pharmaceuticals.
Pruitt Taylor Vince was born with nystagmus, which he worked into his characterization of George.
