Pediatrics is the medical specialty dealing with diseases and disorders found in children, from birth up to the age of adulthood. Children are often more likely to get certain diseases (mumps, chickenpox) and often require more regular visits to the doctor to check the progress of their growth. A specialist in this field is called a pediatrician.
